coffeyhouse: Halfway to ONE! 6 months for Peyton

How can it be that we're halfway to a year? Every time I do one of these updates I feel like I just did the last one.

Peyton has gotten SO interactive and fun. It makes my mom heart sad but it's exciting, too- her dad is pretty much just happy. haha :) He loves being able to play with her more.

At her six month appointment this morning!

Age: 6 months, 26 weeks

Height: 24.5 inches (in the 7th percentile- shorty!)

Weight: 14 lbs 5 oz (17th percentile- we went up!)

Celebrated her first Valentine's Day! (look at that hair standing straight up)

Chris's parents were in visiting and watched Peyton for us so we could go out for a nice meal. The above picture is the live jazz at dinner.

Milestones:

Sitting up unassisted! (see above) Needs someone to spot her but overall does a great job. Amazing how quickly she started doing this all of the sudden.
Had to switch her to lay horizontally in her crib- and have since added mesh bumpers (no pic of that). She sleeps on her tummy most of the time now. Freaked her mom out for the first few times...! Had to keep going in to check on her.

Laughed! Has only happened a few times- very hard to impress audience around here...
Becoming VERY verbal- quite hilarious. We went through a spitting phase where I swear all the child did was spit. Interesting form of communication but quite entertaining. haha :)

Sleep:

Continues to be an awesome sleeper. Still down for bed between 8-8:30, I wake her up to eat a couple hours later then she's out til between 7 & 8.
Naps: She naps 3 times a day and is up an hour and a half to two hours before her next nap. She takes a morning nap (usually an hour to and hour and a half), afternoon nap (closer to an hour 1/2-2 hours) and then a quick evening nap for about 45 minutes almost to the minute.
Haven't run into any sleep regression and have been very thankful for that!

Eating:

Still eats like a champ every 3 hours
Got the green light go on starting solids today. Very bittersweet. She will continue nursing every three but we can introduce veggies/fruit in any order we'd like starting now! I'm planning on making my own food and am excited about the new adventure.
She can also start using a sippy cup for water with her 'meals'
She will eat solids one time a day and up it to twice a day at seven months and so on

Amazing picture we had done at a studio in town- this photographer does a dog food drive for the local human society and gives you a 5 x 7 of your choice for donating. Is this cute or what?

These are a few of her Favorite Things:

Watching Scout- if he's in the room and in motion, her eyes are glued to him
Standing up
SCREENS- cell phone, tv, etc. I'm the crazy mom who doesn't like for her to look at screens/watch TV. So I swear she's more interested because it's the forbidden fruit....
Lights/things with music
Toys! Sophie the giraffe is the current fave- loves to chew that thing
Screeching/making noise ("cough" talking, spitting, raspberries)
Faces- loves to touch your face, grab it, etc. Definitely into studying you
Naps- the girl loves her sleep
Bouncing
Her exersaucer- loves playing in that. Best twenty bucks ever spent (found it used in mint condition!)

These are a few of her Not-So-Favorite-Things:

Has gotten over having clothes put over her head but still not her favorite thing to do...
Being in her carseat not in motion
Being burped- hates it

Best of Times:

Been spending lots of time indoors (unfortunately) with the cold weather but has loved playing with her toys and with her friends- has really started acknowledging that she's actually HAVING a play date :)
Going in to get her up from a nap or first thing in the morning- HUGE smiles
Listening to her talk and talk away to herself when she's going to bed or down for a nap- will lay in there and talk forever...!

Worst of Times:

Didn't enjoy those six month shots today but recovered from them quickly and has been napping a lot today

Other Coffey House Updates:

Chris is wrapping up teaching his first business orientation class at Baker University- one more week to go!
I was approached to develop a Children's Literature course for the master's program at Baker- that is in the works, ironing out details- not sure if this is something I will end up doing or not. Hoping to pick my classroom management course back up in the near future but we'll see.
Chris is busy, busy working on finishing the basement. The main play area will be done in June! Thanks for Mike (his dad) for his help this past weekend. Handy, handy Coffey men.
As mentioned above I got brave and took 7 inches off my hair- life changing. Takes 2 seconds to wash it and not much time to dry it. Had it thinned, too. Cut off so much I was able to donate it to Locks of Love- pretty cool!
My birthday is on Monday- looking forward to celebrating the big 2-8!
Heading to South Carolina to be in my friend, Callie's wedding on the 14th- a little anxious about traveling with a baby but I'm sure she'll do fine. We'll go from there down to Anna Maria Island for a week at the beach with Chris's parents.
