Christmas!

Peyton's 2nd Christmas!

It was so nice to be home this year for Christmas.  Our Christmas was full of relaxing and family time- absolutely perfect! The picture above was from the weekend before Christmas- as if poor P hadn't seen Santa enough that week (twice), we took her to see the Santa she saw last year (who is amazing) at Von Mauer. I walked her to the front of the line to just see him before it was actually our turn, and that triggered a massive meltdown cured by pretzels. Needless to say, Chris and I joined her in the picture and it went fine that way. :) Maybe next year!

The Sunday before Christmas we spent in Topeka with my grandparents, parents, and my brother and his fiance, Moriah.

Peyton got some good gift opening practice in!

Christmas Eve with Granddad and Grammy- we went to the 5 o clock service at COR Downtown- was fun to be at our home church this year

We came home after dinner and we hosted Chris's parents (and mine) for Christmas Eve.  Yummy Italian dinner of lasagna, salad, and garlic bread. My favorite part was a delicious drink I made of cranberry/pomegranate juice mixed with champagne. Dessert was chocolate cake my mom brought with coffee ice cream.

Started the tradition this year of opening PJs on Christmas Eve

Leaving cookies and milk for Santa
Christmas morning! Peyton loved her kitchen and accessories from Santa. :)

The shopping cart lead to a meltdown because she had a hard time understanding that she was too big to get IN her new cart....

Christmas morning breakfast- yummy hamballs and apple bread topped off with mimosas

Special gift from Daddy!
We packed up and moved to my parents for the rest of the day and spend the night there. Peyton loved opening the rest of her gifts.

The slide was a hit!

So was the train. :)

The Coffeys came over and shared Christmas dinner with us at my parents'. My mom did an amazing meal, as usual!

Sunday the Coffeys hosted us and my parents for another delicious meal and more gift opening- the Christmas marathon apparently! :) Peyton got her daddy's old dinosaur rocker.

It was a very relaxing holiday season and as always, goes by way too fast. Our house looks so bare now that we've taken down all the decor- always a sad day! We look forward to next year. :) Merry Belated Christmas to you!

15/16 Months

Age: 16 months
Height: 29.5 inches
Weight: 20 lbs 13 oz
Milestones:
  • Walking full time!
  • The dreaded word "no" ;)
  • Lots of words (most only we can understand)- some include dog, Scout, sock, shoe, bunny (bu bu), water (wa)- and signing please, milk, eat, all done, and working on thank you

Sleep:
  • 1 nap a day- 12:30/1 and sleeps 2-3 hours on average
  • Still going to bed at 8 and getting up around 7:45/8- soooo thankful...!!!

Eating:
  • Depends on what day you ask. :) Overall, we have a very good eater. She eats mass quantities of what she wants, and does pretty well with less preferable foods (aka anything that's not a carb).
  • Loves pasta, bread, crackers, pizza... you name it. Also loves green beans and bananas.
  • So thankful that Peyton does NOT throw her food. I hear this a lot and am not sure how we dodged this bullet.
  • LOVES milk and water- she has water throughout the day and milk with meals

These are a few of her Favorite Things:
  • Giving kisses and hugs- when she gives a kiss, she goes "Mmmmmm wah!" and for hugs she goes "awwwww"  lol Cracks us up every time.
  • Playing- this girl loves her toys. Favorites right now are the knife from her cookie set, her car from her birthday (cozy coupe), Bunny (stuffed animal), and anything electronic- i.e. remotes, phones, etc.
  • Bath time
  • Books- girl can read for hours (pic is my daily view getting ready in the morning if she's not in her room getting all things out of her drawers)
  • Taking things out and putting them back in- likes to do this with every item in her drawers when mama is getting ready in the mornings ;)
  • Using a fork/spoon
  • Looking at pictures of people- likes to carry around a frame of Chris and I pointing to him saying "dada" over and over
  • Facial features- can point to her mouth, nose, eyes, hair, head, and ears- likes to point these out on you, too, and on people in books.
  • Her "DOG" book- loves that book!

These are a few of her Not-So-Favorite-Things:
  • Kids/chaos. lol Play group has been hit or miss with her- she tends to get a little edgy when there are tons of kids going every which way. She prefers the calm. Also prefers her space. So play group is rarely either of those preferences- poor P. :/
  • Car rides- hit and miss right now, too. Sometimes she does great, sometimes it's quite dramatic until we reach our destination
  • Uneven surfaces (to walk on)- i.e. transitioning from carpet to hardwood... weird floors... and especially the mulch at the playground- don't even think about it....
  • The nursery at church- one of these days mama will get to sit through a service again.... :) Our record time in the nursery has been about 10 minutes. She flips out being left up there. I volunteer one Sunday a month and she's even a little touch and go when I'm up there with her- scared I'm going to leave, I think. Just a phase, right?

Best of Times:
  • Gosh... where do I begin. She just gets more and more fun. People have always told me "it only gets better" and wow, is that the truth! She's a blast
  • She makes holidays so much more fun and meaningful
  • Playing- she loves to run to you and has gotten so silly- we love it. She'll throw herself on the ground laughing and roll around.
  • The Christmas season- took her to go see a couple different lights displays and she loved them. Danced to the music and was hilarious.

Worst of Times:
  • First illness for P- :( Had some viral junk that had lovely stomach symptoms and a fever. Also a nasty nasty diaper rash. Luckily never affected her sleep but mama ended up with it a few days later. Dad dodged it- lucky guy. Hated seeing her sick but it was short lived.
  • Teeth coming in- she's up to 12.5 teeth now (4 on the top, 4.5 on the bottom, and 4 molars)
  • Seeing Santa- trauma. lol (left is Peyton with friend, Addy, and right is with friend, Hugh)

Other Coffey House Updates:
  • I have an appointment with Baker to look at teaching my previously taught Master's course (Classroom Management) online- would be very different so going in to see what it's all about. Would teach in the spring.
  • Will spend Christmas with my parents and Chris's parents- hosting Christmas Eve here and Christmas day will be at my parents'.  Scott will be with his fiance, Moriah, in NY and my grandparents will be in Tulsa.  Will be different but looking forward to this special holiday with my favorite little person!
  • Celebrated Chris's 29th birthday- oh my are we getting old or what? Fun night out for Jackstack BBQ with my parents and back to our house for ice cream cake and gifts. P and I met him at work to grab a birthday lunch.

And some pictures for the road...
