With the announcement of our big news I figured it would be a good time to start up the old blog to update friends and family on the Coffey bean. :) This first post may be a little long because it has been 13 weeks since baby C came to be!
We found out about our new addition 3 days before Christmas- we were anticipating it but was still quite the shock! Exciting but life changing news. We shared with my parents the day after Christmas by asking if they liked the new stocking hanging on our mantel. :) We shared with Chris's parents when we went up to see them after Christmas in Chicago with a frame of the 3 grand kids, plus one blank spot awaiting a picture. So fun to share with family. We facetimed with Matt, Laura and Caralynn (Chris's brother), Chris shared on the phone with his oldest brother Stephen and family, called his grandparents, announced to my grandparents in person in Topeka with a card and a poem from their great grandchild, and my brother, Scott, received an e mail from "down under" from his niece or nephew with a sonogram attachment. :)
The picture you see at the top of our blog is how we announced on Facebook, now a right of passage for babies in this day and age. lol So strange but true. I set up this same arrangement in our teacher lounge to share the news with my staff. Took some longer than others to catch on but they got it. haha :)
Pictures below are from the nursery demolition. lol Anyone who knows Chris knows he's always ready for the next project so he let no grass grow under his feet. We (or he, really) got started about 2 weeks ago- my parents came over and helped us strip the lovely grass/bamboo original wallpaper.
We visited the guy who did my parents' carpet today down south and picked out three more swatches to choose from... this will be done in the carpeted areas of the house before spring break. Excited to be done with what we have!

10 week sonogram- next one and last will be 20 weeks

Scout: "Strange things are happening around here..."
Redoing some drywall and other things I don't understand
Then Chris's parents were in town and they got the fun task of helping get down the wallpaper behind the grass/bamboo and the old, ancient glue.
Then for some priming...
New light fixture in the closet (which is HUGE- we are excited!)
Ripping out the old carpet..
Loving on his grandparents in his own odd way...
Paint swatches- Behr Porpoise on the left and Gentle Rain on the right- going with the one on the left with white trim- will look something like this:
And let the "bump" pictures begin! Everything is still fitting and no real "bump" at this point. Will take a picture every month to show a change. A little nervous to see what next month will look like! Ahhh!
Was 13 weeks on Friday- have another appointment this Friday. :) Still feeling super tired, having constant starvation, but still no morning sickness (praise the Lord). Getting stomach aches at night... not sure what that's about. Clothes still fitting. Hoping 2nd trimester brings me some more energy- these 5 year olds take it out of you with REGULAR energy levels!
Below are pics from our last Valentine's day sans-children! I got Chris some Sporting KC onesies. :) We had a lovely dinner out at the Gaslight Grille with live jazz and yummy food.
More updates to come!!! :) Stay tuneddddd....!!!
