Update!

Let's see... what has happened from the last time I posted?

We've gotten some cute baby gifts already!  The blanket/lovie on the left is from a student of mine- gave it to me with a card saying "I hope your baby is a girl just like me." Adorable.  Towels/washcloths in the middle from Lindsay, bff from college (expecting her 1st June 1st!), and "Kelly the Cow" toy and grey/white chevron blanket from bff from high school, Kelly. :) So fun receiving things- adds to the whole surreal feeling for sure!

Chris braved the weather with me today to go to the 'Just Between Friends' consignment sale at the OP Trade Center.  I've heard about this sale for a few years from my mama friends but obviously haven't had a reason to go.  Today was the last day, also half off day!  Got a pair of khaki capris, shorts, and a dress for $12- my kind of shopping, people.

Baby Updates:
  • Apparently the little bean is 4-5 inches long now! Crazy!  You can tell if he/she is a boy or a girl but we won't find out until March 28th- AHHH!!!
  • Had an appt on my 14 week mark a week ago and the heartrate went down from 169 (@ 9 1/2 weeks) to 155.  Speculate away on gender!
  • Symptoms: have been more tired than ever lately- not sure what's that's all about, as I hear you are supposed to GAIN energy back in the 2nd trimester.. oh well. Still getting frequent/daily stomachaches- just cramping and discomfort.
  • Clothes are fitting but I prefer yoga pants... oh wait- I think I've always preferred elastic.  Maybe I should start wearing maternity clothes now?

And now for the nursery update!

As you can tell, the walls are painted!  We ended up going with the darker of the greys- "Porpoise" by Behr.  I LOVE it. Also with the white trim, white ceiling etc.  What you see above is the beginnings of the amazing built in bookcases Chris is building.  I love them already- especially the beadboard detailing in the back.  He is amazing.

He'll do crown molding around the shelves and will build a thing (not sure what to call it) down from the ceiling that will hide the rod for the curtains.

Closet! Light installed in there, too.

Other life happenings- I turned the big 2-7! Crazy! Does this mean I'm an adult? I don't think so! Let the denial continue...! :)

I had a very nice day with my grandparents and parents in Topeka- Chris woke up sick so stayed home and missed the fun, unfortunately- as did my brother who was sick, as well. :(

Beautiful birthday flowers my Grandmother put out

Me and one of my favorite people ever, Granddad :)

2 of my favorites- Grandmother and Granddad

And 2 more favorite- the future grandparents- but to me,  Mom and Dad :)

Last child-less birthday- very hard to believe.

And a Baby Makes 3...

With the announcement of our big news I figured it would be a good time to start up the old blog to update friends and family on the Coffey bean. :) This first post may be a little long because it has been 13 weeks since baby C came to be!
10 week sonogram- next one and last will be 20 weeks

We found out about our new addition 3 days before Christmas- we were anticipating it but was still quite the shock! Exciting but life changing news.  We shared with my parents the day after Christmas by asking if they liked the new stocking hanging on our mantel. :) We shared with Chris's parents when we went up to see them after Christmas in Chicago with a frame of the 3 grand kids, plus one blank spot awaiting a picture.  So fun to share with family.  We facetimed with Matt, Laura and Caralynn (Chris's brother), Chris shared on the phone with his oldest brother Stephen and family, called his grandparents, announced to my grandparents in person in Topeka with a card and a poem from their great grandchild, and my brother, Scott, received an e mail from "down under" from his niece or nephew with a sonogram attachment.  :)

The picture you see at the top of our blog is how we announced on Facebook, now a right of passage for babies in this day and age. lol So strange but true. I set up this same arrangement in our teacher lounge to share the news with my staff.  Took some longer than others to catch on but they got it. haha :)

Pictures below are from the nursery demolition. lol Anyone who knows Chris knows he's always ready for the next project so he let no grass grow under his feet. We (or he, really) got started about 2 weeks ago- my parents came over and helped us strip the lovely grass/bamboo original wallpaper.

Scout: "Strange things are happening around here..."

Redoing some drywall and other things I don't understand

Then Chris's parents were in town and they got the fun task of helping get down the wallpaper behind the grass/bamboo and the old, ancient glue.

Then for some priming...

New light fixture in the closet (which is HUGE- we are excited!)

Ripping out the old carpet..

Loving on his grandparents in his own odd way...

Paint swatches- Behr Porpoise on the left and Gentle Rain on the right- going with the one on the left with white trim- will look something like this:

We visited the guy who did my parents' carpet today down south and picked out three more swatches to choose from... this will be done in the carpeted areas of the house before spring break.  Excited to be done with what we have!

And let the "bump" pictures begin! Everything is still fitting and no real "bump" at this point.  Will take a picture every month to show a change.  A little nervous to see what next month will look like! Ahhh!

Was 13 weeks on Friday- have another appointment this Friday.  :) Still feeling super tired, having constant starvation, but still no morning sickness (praise the Lord).  Getting stomach aches at night... not sure what that's about.  Clothes still fitting.  Hoping 2nd trimester brings me some more energy- these 5 year olds take it out of you with REGULAR energy levels!

Below are pics from our last Valentine's day sans-children!  I got Chris some Sporting KC onesies. :) We had a lovely dinner out at the Gaslight Grille with live jazz and yummy food.

More updates to come!!! :) Stay tuneddddd....!!!
