Peyton Turns TWO!

Let's talk about something here- where does the time GO? SERIOUSLY.

We had a wonderful time with family celebrating our sweet P- this was the birthday of the 'baby'- all sorts of baby stuff that she is OBSESSED with. This girl loves her dolls.

Uncle Scott and Aunt Moriah got her a talking Daniel Tiger- she is in love with this thing.  Lays there going to bed pressing his hand over and over to hear him talk and sing.

Love love, our sweet girl. This past year has truly been the best. Can't imagine things getting any better! Lucky, lucky mama I am.

12 Months Old!

Age: 12 months- ONE YEAR OLD!!!
Height: 27.75 inches
Weight:  18 lbs 11.5 oz.
at her 12 onth appt- did great with her 3 shots and finger prick (anemia test)

Milestones:  this month felt like a new thing every few days!

  • Cruising
  • Pushing a walker toy
  • Waving
  • clapping
Sleep:

  • Bedtime at 8 p.m., up between 7:30-8... nap at 9 (about an hour and a half) and nap at 2 (about an hour)
  • Continue to be grateful for such a great sleeper!
Eating:

  • Have taken a turn in this department- still a great eater overall, but the preferences have BEGUN.... preferences being CARBS. Loves pasta, rice, bread, etc. She comes by that honestly, poor thing.
  • Mealtime brings out the hulk in our child- working on some mealtime behavior/manners- gets very feisty over her food. Luckily hasn't been an issue at restaurants/friends' houses but here is a different story. :) Continuing to work on baby sign language to encourage her to 'use her words.'
  • Started whole milk at 11 months and she loves it
These are a few of her Favorite Things:

  • Remotes, phones, anything electronic- definitely a child of her generation..!
  • Pulling hair off Scout and eating it- lovely. We are working on this. :) She may learn the word "yucky" before a lot of others because I use that word... a lot.
  • Pushing her walker- gets the cutest grin- so pleased with herself
  • Swings (park or at Grammy and Granddad's)
  • Playdates with friends
  • morning walks
  • ALL toys- especially anything new. The girl could play with toys for days.
  • Bathtime
  • LAUGH- from the child who barely laughed or smiled for the longest time, now EVERYTHING is funny! The best is hearing her laughing in the backseat when we're driving. So random and so funny.
These are a few of her Not-So-Favorite-Things:

  • Being told no- our current area is wanting to pull either the mirror off the wall above her changing table or hair off her furry sibling
in her birthday gift from Chris and I
Best of Times:

  • Been a busy but fun summer- most of the 'best of times' have been highlighted in previous posts with our trips etc.
  • Love how her personality comes out more and more as the weeks go on.  She is quite the funny little girl.  Multi-faceted personality for sure.
  • Love her cuddles before I put her down for a nap or bedtime
  • She randomly will crawl up on me now, put her head on my shoulder and suck her thumb for a few seconds... then go back to what she was doing. So sweet.
  • Still loves to read books and makes my teacher heart very happy :)
Worst of Times:

  • Probably the mealtime behavior where our child becomes possessed by a demon
Other Coffey House Updates:

  • The basement is DONE! Well, phase "1" is done. :) Carpet in, walls done etc.  We just have old furniture out now and not much else- which I love. Wide open play space for Peyton (and friends). :) Need to post pics soon- Chris did an amazing job.  Love having it done!
  • We are not traveling for awhile, which I am really looking forward to. Becoming a homebody in my old age..
  • My headband 'business' continues to be busy, busy- doing a local craft fair with a friend on September 19th in Shawnee- busy preparing for that!
And some pictures for the road... (LOTS more in her birthday post!)

new 'scrunchy' fair- will do this face and breath in and out 100 times. lol hilarious

Father's Day/Grandmother's 85th Birthday/Peyton and Mommy Photoshoot

Long title for this post!

We spent Chris's first official Father's Day with my grandparents and parents in Topeka yesterday.  Got there around 2 and had a nice visit followed by a yummy dinner (where Peyton ate as much pork tenderloin, green beans, and apple sauce as any adult at the table...) and cake to celebrate Grandmother's 85th birthday. Peyton's first TWO bottom teeth showed their faces, too!

Always loves time with her great-Granddad.  Giving him a dental exam.

Loves her great-Grandmother, too- how lucky is she to have them?

Reading their cards

A little treat from my parents- just what every dad needs

Hilarious new book from Chris' parents by Jimmy Fallon

New reading material for Dad

Obsessed with the box from Grandmother's gift

Trying on Grandmother's gardening hat

Fun times in the box

Happy Birthday, Grandmother! Hope I look this good at 85! :)

For part of Chris's gift, a friend of mine (a very talented friend) so graciously did a little photo session with P and I in our backyard.  Gave us a disc of images- all in both color and black and white- and one of them all set to music.  Here are a few!

First Birthday as a Mom!

A little late on posting but better late than never! I celebrated my big 2-8 on February 23rd- celebrated with the fam the day before.  Missed my grandparents, as my grandmother was under the weather but my brother made it in from Iowa.

We enjoyed my traditional spaghetti dinner made by my mom and a delicious Dairy Queen cake!

Peyton and I on my actual birthday- got to spend the day with my mom shopping around and went out to dinner to my fave- Jose Peppers for Mexican and margaritas. Chris was teaching that night and my dad was out of town- but had a very fun girls' day/evening! Topped off with the Bachelor at night. ;)
