Father's Day/Grandmother's 85th Birthday/Peyton and Mommy Photoshoot

Long title for this post!

We spent Chris's first official Father's Day with my grandparents and parents in Topeka yesterday.  Got there around 2 and had a nice visit followed by a yummy dinner (where Peyton ate as much pork tenderloin, green beans, and apple sauce as any adult at the table...) and cake to celebrate Grandmother's 85th birthday. Peyton's first TWO bottom teeth showed their faces, too!

Always loves time with her great-Granddad.  Giving him a dental exam.

Loves her great-Grandmother, too- how lucky is she to have them?

Reading their cards

A little treat from my parents- just what every dad needs

Hilarious new book from Chris' parents by Jimmy Fallon

New reading material for Dad

Obsessed with the box from Grandmother's gift

Trying on Grandmother's gardening hat

Fun times in the box

Happy Birthday, Grandmother! Hope I look this good at 85! :)

For part of Chris's gift, a friend of mine (a very talented friend) so graciously did a little photo session with P and I in our backyard.  Gave us a disc of images- all in both color and black and white- and one of them all set to music.  Here are a few!

Baby Pool Time!

If you haven't read Peyton's 10 month update, scroll down and start there. If you have, proceed. :)

We got out Peyton's baby pool (yes, it's been renamed- used to be "Scout's pool").  Enjoyed an evening outside with Jazz in the Woods (big concert about 5 minutes from us) blaring in the background. We had planned on potentially going then decided against it, and ended up not even needing to go with how loud it was!

Enjoy some pics from her first time in her baby pool :)

10 Months!

Peyton never lets me down with making it almost impossible to get a smile during these monthly photo shoots. :)

discovered the sticker- making these pictures even more challenging ;)

Age: 10 months!
this many diapers in months old!
Height: see 9 month post- probably close to the same!
Weight: see above
at her 9 month appointment in May
Milestones:
  • This girl is done with the pacifier! She never slept with it or had it much during the day, but was awfully nice on our plane rides in March. She decided that pacifiers are for babies. ;)
  • Says "baba," "mama," and "dada"
  • Imitates things you do- turning her head sideways, raspberries or whatever those things are called, popping noises, and smacking your lips
  • Moved her crib down :( Very sad day for mama. One day I was watching the monitor during naptime and she was on her knees, hands on the rail- and that was it. Time to lower the crib...
  • Graduated from baby swim class a.k.a. glorified playing in the water- this teacher mom had way too high of expectations but it was fun :)
  • Figuring out more 'complex' toys- stacking the rings, putting the ball in the play gumball machine and pushing the lever
  • Pulled herself to sitting in her crib 6/26- AHH!
  • Putting toys into another toy or container
doing her popping noise

Sleep:
  • Night sleep is still great- goes down at 8, up between 7 & 7:30- will be happy in her crib til around 8 but I'm usually up feeding her by 7:15/7:20
  • Naps: teetering between 2-3 naps a day. Has started to be a little fussy before her third nap as usual (between 4 & 4:30) but then when I put her down she'll lay quietly for a few minutes... looks like she's going to sleep... then is up crawling around and talking away for up to an hour happily.  So because of this... we may be cutting that nap. Stay tuned next month for further developments...
  • Sleeps usually on her side or stomach with her thumb in her mouth

Eating:
  • How do I say this- the girl loves to eat. You better eat fast or she's coming for your plate, too. Literally ate half my meal at a Mexican restaurant the other week. Hilarious.
  • Favorites- girl loves her meat, anything carb related, sweet potatoes, peanut butter on pita bread
black bean monster

(look at that hair!)

These are a few of her Favorite-Things:
  • Sitting on the edge of the pool and leaning forward to fall in- proud mom moment that she's brave enough to do it!
  • Copying what you do/say
  • Standing up (can't quite get there by herself but LOVES to do it)
  • Changing table time- still a favorite past time...
  • Walks- happy girl in her stroller
  • Watching animals and little kids
  • Socializing- does her 'baby dragon' noise at her friends to greet them, literally (see video below to hear the sound I'm referring to...) sound so painful to do!

These are a few of her Not-So-Favorite-Things:
  • If you take too long to get her out of her carseat, you will hear about it- promptly.
  • Got over this with time but wasn't the biggest fan of going underwater at baby swim
  • Slow service at dinnertime- give the girl her food NOW

Best of Times:
  • Had a great time visiting with Chris's parents at the end of May- loves her Grandpa and Nessa
  • also enjoyed a fun day with my best bud from college visiting (Lindsay and her son, Max- just turned 1) and her mom- fun day at Deanna Rose and catching up at my parents' house

Worst of Times:

  • LOTS of rain here- ready for it to moveeee on out!
  • Scout tipped our stroller over (no baby in it, whew) and scratched it up- not terribly, but enough to ignite my borderline OCD obsessive thoughts over how the stroller is no longer in mint condition. Probably need therapy to recover... Also sent a cup of mine flying and cracked, along with my cell phone screen- cracked. Thanks, Scout. :)
Other Coffey House Updates:

  • The basement project is close to being done! Just need carpet! Need to take pics and share- Chris has done an AMAZING job... (as have our helpers/painters, my parents and his!)
  • Still busy with my new little Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/coffeyhousecrafts) making and selling baby and adult headbands- just added the adult ones recently.
  • It is HOT in KC! Trying to get out when we can but whew! Sizzlin'.
  • Will be in Topeka tomorrow celebrating Father's Day with my family- looking forward to it! Look for another update soon with pics from that. :)
  • Had my childhood best friend, Melissa Ray (from Dallas) and her boyfriend, Alister, visit all the way from AUSTRALIA! They were en route to her parents' house and were nice enough to detour through KC. We had a quick but super fun visit. My parents watched P so we could hit up Jack Stack BBQ on the Plaza- took them to a few other sights of KC.

And some pictures for the road...
