Operation: Living Room

so of course since we are nearing finishing the kitchen (pics to come) we have to set out on our next mission: the living room.  awhile back i posted this picture looking for some ideas/inspiration:


we have since found INSPIRATION! :) finally found this rug at target (not pictured):

so we are going to go with a grey/slate tone on the walls with white/cream trim- going for a contemporary/shabby chic look.

thinking possibly these bookshelves somewhere in the room...

what do you think? these bookshelves (target) are definitely not cheap.. for us at least. lol so we may hit up some thriftstores to find something similar or if we get super crafty, maybe we could replicate these? 

suggestions/advice?

    I think the color choices sound great. The house looks beautiful from some of the pictures i've seen here and on fb.
