to all my fellow teachers out there,
happy teacher appreciation week!
my kids brought in some gorgeous flowers- take a look!
garage sale find (shelf).... $3.... candle from thrift store (new in package!) $1....
this is in our room right as you walk in! we keep decor on it so it doesn't turn into a place to lay down whatever. :)
what ado about this room?
okay... and here's where i need your opinions! this is our formal living room (that we want to keep somewhat comfy and usable). the entryway is brown, and the living room/dining room are both a tannish color- we want to paint in there but aren't sure of color. we need to find a rug and that has been veryyyy hard because i'm so picky!
SUGGESTIONS?!
Have a GREAT weekend!

How about picking up that amber accent from your wall-art (and flowers)? Orange colours are supposed to be good for the appetite, so go well in a dining room... You have beige and brown furnishings (and presumably you don't fancy finding the money to change all that just yet!).
ReplyDeleteWhy not look for a warm gingery-amber colour, that you can use on at least that back wall of the dining room and one or more walls in the living room? If you wouldn't want it everywhere, then either take a "paint swatch" of the existing wall colour, to match up the ginger (and avoid a clash), then just add accent walls in the new colour, keeping the others as they are - or find a creamy, buttermilk shade to lighten up the other walls and soften the effect of the orange. It would give the whole room a lift, make it feel light and airy and fresh - and perhaps would do that for the inhabitants too? Then a few pillows covered with amber/orangey satin/silk dupion fabric or some linen - natural linen and orange dupion mixed together perhaps?
Any help?
Of course, you may actually hate orange/amber and be ready to throw the wall-art in the bin...
